Dental Service Descriptions and Definitions Complete Dental Exam - During your through examination we look for any signs of disease in the oral cavity. Cavities, gum disease, oral cancer and evaluation of your bite are examples of what we look for during our examinations. We'll give you tips on how to care for your teeth and a new tooth brush & dental floss - just to make sure you've got the tools! Periodontal therapy - periodontal (Gum) disease are infections of the tissues and bone that support the teeth. Gum disease are caused by plaque, a sticky film of bacteria that constantly forms on the teeth .if bacterial plaque is not removed by daily brushing and flossing, and regular dental cleanings, the gums can become infected and inflamed. Crowns - when a tooth is fractured, has a large old filling, or is severely damaged by decay not only might the situation be painful, but the condition might affect the appearance of your smile. Your dentist may recommend the placement of a crown or cap. Crowns strengthen and protect the remaining tooth structure and can improve the appearance of your smile. Less pain and a better smile! Bridges - when one or more teeth are missing, the remaining teeth can drift out of position, which can lead to change in the bite, the loss of additional teeth , decay and gum disease, when tooth loss occurs, your dentist may recommend the placement of a bridge. When placing a bridge, the teeth on both sides of the space are covered with crowns (caps/retainers), and an artificial tooth ( called Pontic) is attached to the crowns. The procedure can restore full function of your teeth, reduce the chance of future tooth loss and provide an extra measure of confidence. Implant placement and restoration - a dental implant is an artificial substitute for a natural tooth root. The implant are small anchors shaped like screws that are placed in to the jaw bone providing a non-removable, stable and natural looking tooth replacing a previously missing tooth. Dental implants area also used to secure ill-fitting dentures by allowing an anchor for the denture to hold Root canals - Severe tooth decay can cause an abscessed or infected tooth. We all know infections need treatment and a tooth infection is no exception. Left untreated for long and it can be very painful and more troublesome. A root canal may be the solution. During root canal therapy, your dentist removes the decay and creates an opening in the center of the tooth. The root canals are cleaned and shaped and filled. The recurring pain will end and you & your mouth will feel a whole lot better.
